On June 14, 2011, Tuesday, The JRG (Jose 'Dodong' R. Gullas) Halad Museum will be open to the public. The museum has music as its main theme. This is Dodong Gullas' tribute to the richness of the musical culture and talent of Cebu in the Philippine history. He built the JRG Museum as his offering to his parents - Don Vicente and Inday Pining Gullas. The JRG Halad Museum will showcase songs , musical instruments and memorabilia of famous singers, composers and musicians who have made Cebuanos proud. The museum also features interactive music booths for visitors to enjoy and experience great Cebuano music.
The JRG Halad Museum will be open to the public from 9:00 am until 5:00 in the afternoon, from Monday to Friday. Senior Citizens are to enter for free.
The opening ceremony which is by invitation only will be on June 13, 2011 at 3:00 in the afternoon. A Holy Mass will be celebrated by Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma and will be graced by His Eminence Ricardo Cardinal Vidal.
The opening program will kicked off with serenades or "Harana" with songs of Minggoy Lopez, Maning Velez and other Cebuano singers through the voices of the UV Chorale, Mutya Orchestra and the world-renown Pilita Corales.
To be awarded on that night are the winners of the "Halad Theme Song Contest" entitled 'Awit ni Dodong' whose lyrics are by Leo Lastimosa. The event will be aired on DYAB 1512 from 8:00pm to 10:00pm.
