Come May 29, 2011, another marathon is gonna rock Cebu.  But this time runners do it for an advocacy - environmental awareness.  Runners will have to start at the University of Cebu, Banilad campus, pass through A.S. Fortuna Avenue going to Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue then turning at M.L. Quezon St and end at UC-Banilad.  The event features a fun run with 3k, 6k and 15 categories with a special 6k category exclusive for barefoot and minimalist runners, and a leisure biking .

Fair Trade Center organized the event in partnership with members of Road Revolution and University of Cebu  to create awareness and educate the Cebuanos with regards to environmental issues, specially pollution problems that beset the country. Road Revolution is currently lobbying for the creation of sidewalks and bike lanes in Cebu City thus they will conduct a signature campaign to gather 1,000 signatures that will allow them to propose a city ordinance to support their advocacy.

Registration fee for the run is P250 for the 3k and 6k and P300 for the 15k inclusive of singlet, race bib and food packs.  Leisure biking cost P500 which also includes food.  Organic snacks will be served after the race. Register at Fair Trade Center, Terra Plana-Ayala Cebu, UC Banilad and Cebu City Sports center until May 27 only.

The top 3 placers will receive cash prizes and trophy. Special awards will also be given.

Now, this is one race where we can show our support for Mother Earth.
